Nach der friedlichen Bürgerrevolution von 1918 setzte die Regierung der neuen Republik das Volksgesetz Nummer 1 in Kraft, das zum ersten Mal in der ungarischen Geschichte ein gleiches Wahlrecht für beide Geschlechter garantierte, das über Parteilisten ausgeübt wurde. Es wurden aber keine Wahlen auf dieser Basis abgehalten. Der konservative Flügel der nationalistischen Bewegung stürzte den Ministerpräsidenten Mihály Károlyi in einer Gegenrevolution, und das Frauenwahlrecht wurde wieder abgeschafft ." (Wikipedia) Henry Charles Schmitt alias Frank Arnau, geb. 9.3.1894, in Wien, berichtet über seine Erlebnisse in Ungarn im November 1918 "Der Sohn des Schweizer Hotelleiters und Generaldirektors Charles Arnau wurde unter dem Namen Heinrich Karl Schmitt geboren und begann seine schriftstellerische Tätigkeit 1912 als Zeitungs-Journalist mit Polizeireportagen. Er weitete seine literarische Tätigkeit danach auf die Bereiche Film und Theater aus und war auch als Wirtschaftsberater tätig. Frank Arnau, wie Heinrich Schmitt später hieß, konnte sich aber vor allem im Bereich des Kriminalromans durchsetzen. 1919 erhielt er die deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft. Gemeinsam mit Josef Ganz gab Arnau Sondernummern der Motor-Kritik heraus, die sich ?ausschließlich mit ?Enthüllungen? und Aufdeckung von angeblich schlimmen Zuständen bei bestimmten Werken der Autoindustrie? befassten. 1930 beantragte er eine Namensänderung, nachdem bereits 11 Bücher unter seinem Pseudonym Frank Arnau erschienen waren ."
