Sometimes ignored in the U.S., American artists, Edward and Nancy Kienholz's often room-sized sculpture and tableaux, created largely from found materials, were exhibited in museums throughout Eur…ope during the mid-to-late 20th century. This catalogue from the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf exhibition in 1989, provides an overview of the Kienholz's work during the 1980s, from "Sollie 17," of 1979/80 to "The Ozmandyias Parade", 1985, to "The Caddy Court," 1986/87, and "The Hoerengracht," 1988. Over 130 black & white and full-color photos, including 5 full-color gatefolds, of the art work as "work-in-progress" and as it appeared in the exhibition. Text in English and German, with introductory remarks by Robert Pincus. 8 1/4" x 10 1/2," 160 pages in heavy grey card covers with black lettering. Covers show a trace of yellowing along the edges due to aging and a touch of surface wear and soiling, no tears or bumping. The text, on heavy gloss paper is clean and unmarked, tight and square. A scarce, collectable copy of the Kienholz's later work.
