Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Square format octavo hardcover in very good condition with a bit of edgewear and two remainder marks on the bottom, that was put there by a book sale, rather than being a publisher's remainder mark. First edition with an illustrated cover. Complete section on wines by Bern C. Ramey.…Scarce book. The author had dreamed about writing a cookbook for years, and took the opportunity when he was approached by the Women's Association of the Joslyn Art Museum to do this project. He says a recipe should be the launching pad for creativity, and a great dish comes from tasting and being able to add a bit of this or less of that to make it perfect, and that following a recipe alone will not have the same outcome. That a perfect dish needs to employ all five senses, and that it is best to try things with a "dry run" on your family. The freshest of ingredients, care, including a careful and sensitive use of herbs and spices, menu palanning, including the wine, and taking the time are also important. This is a wonderful and unusual cookbook, extravagantly illustrated with drawings and photographs of food and 42 photographs of art and tableware from the Joslyn Museum collections. 216 pages. Magid, Carolyn Schimmel (illustrator).
