Clean brown cloth boards with black and gold decoration, gold lettering on cover and spine, blind-stamped decoration on rear board. Slight surface wear to spine ends; binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Clean chocolate brown endpapers, 1" closed tear at base of front free endpaper; no names, writing or marks. With nearly 400 illustrations throughout the book; pages and edges are clean. Preface by the author. 398 pages. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Later Edition. Max Adeler was the pseudonym of Charles Clark(copyright 1874) of the Saturday Evening Post. This is a later edition of his first book and also the debut of Arthur B. Frost. Book has nearly four hundred illustrations. Brown cloth boards are black blindstamped and feature gilt text on front and spine. Gilt decorations on front portray a parade of oddly matched individuals as well as a dog that has his teeth set in the calf of a diving swimmer whose clothes are neatly laid out on the ground beside him. Boards have beveled edges and are scuffed at their extremities. 398 pp. Dark brown ep's have fon dated 1927. Also fon stamped on top right of Title Page. Book is tight and square.
