Wesentlich ereignet es sich im Einlasse…n auf vermeintlich 'unkünstlerische' Stoffe: Kautschuk, Wachs und in Wasser gelöste chemische Salze. Diese werden als nahezu farblose Lösung mit der Pipette auf ungeleimtes chromatografisches Papier oder mit Kieselgel beschichtete Bildträger getropft, die über eine offene Oberfläche verfügen, und reagieren im Papier, innerhalb eines Prozesses, der 'wie von Geisterhand' erfolgt. Schattauers neuere Arbeiten, hier in der Werkgruppe 'Ausblühungen' vorgestellt, lassen an Kristalle oder hauchfeine Blütenformen denken. Farbe tritt fetzenartig oder luzid, in geraffter Schichtung auf. Die Bilder spielen mit Assoziationen, die der Vorstellungswelt der wissenschaftlichen Sphäre entstammen könnten. Gleichzeitig verengt der Begriff 'Bilder' das Werk, denn bei den Arbeiten handelt es sich, wie es die Künstlerin bewusst formuliert, um 'Gebilde'.
