Contains 212 lovely pen-and-ink illustrations throughout the 865 pages by Joseph Scharl. Based on the translations of Margaret Hunt. Orig. published in this format in 1944, this is a later printing of the new 1972 edition with renewed copyright in a large, thick softcover format. Condition is Good+: interior pages are completely clean & unmarked, save for old gift inscription in red pen to half title page. All pages are heavily tanned around the edges, much less so in center. Exterior text block shows light soil & shelfwear, with curling to outer corners of front cover & early pages; slight creasing to same corners on back cover.
