Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -'Our Little Quebec Cousin' by Mary S. Saxe is a charming exploration of the life and culture of a young French Canadian girl named Oisette Mary Tremblent, set in the early 20th century in the province of Quebec. The narrative provides a vivid depiction of Oisette's daily life, her family, and the cultural traditions that shape her upbringing. The story begins with a description of Oisette's family and their life in the village of Cote-des-Neiges, near Montreal. The Tremblent family is portrayed as deeply rooted in their French Canadian heritage, with strong ties to their Catholic faith and community. The narrative highlights the importance of religious and cultural traditions, such as the celebration of First Communion and the Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, which are significant events in Oisette's life. The book also delves into the interactions between the French and English-speaking communities, as seen through Oisette's friendship with the Dudley children, who are English-speaking neighbors. This relationship provides a lens through which the reader can observe the cultural exchanges and differences between the two communities. The story is rich with descriptions of the Quebec landscape, the bustling Bonsecour Market, and the historical sites of Montreal, such as the Château de Ramezay. These elements serve to immerse the reader in the setting and provide a historical context for the narrative. Through Oisette's eyes, readers experience the joys of childhood, the warmth of family life, and the vibrant cultural tapestry of Quebec. The book is not only a delightful tale of a young girl's adventures but also an insightful portrayal of the cultural heritage and traditions of French Canadians in Quebec. 56 pp. Englisch.…
