A son père Antoine Bossuet (1624-1699) (qui meurt un mois plus tard). Belle lettre à propos d'affaires financières, de l'état de nécessité de l'abbé. La lettre ne donne presque aucun nom. Elle parle ainsi de « Mr de M », « Mr de Paris », « 24 » qu'une note dit être Bouillon, « 34 » qu'une note dit être le Roi. Il précise : « je ne tire que 6 à 7 mil francs par an de mon abbaye » quand il en a besoin de 15. L'abbé de Bossuet était alors à Rome pour représenter son oncle dans la querelle du Quiétisme.
