Bound in gilt jacket with black and white titles, stated first edition.This copy inscribed and signed by John Charles Bryant in 1999, a descendant of Farrow Powell, South Bend Indiana's first permanent black resident and Gerri Major's cousin. He was also a regional historian on black history.

Hardback. Condition: VG. 1st Edition. Generally a nice clean tight complete text but with a slight damp stain to top right of frontispiece. The whole appears to have been professionally rebound (in modern times) in a strong dark green cloth (porbably with new endpapers). The greater part of the original front cover is mounted on the front cover of the new binding. Size: No DW.

A most attractive and scarce item.
