Three Original Handwritten and Signed Letters by Artist Samuel Pepys Cockerell Discussing a Lecture on His Deceased Friend Frederic, Lord Leighton. Dated 1899. Various subjects discussed including giving a lecture on Lord Leighton, confirmation of a date, and using Leightons house for the lecture. Samuel Pepys Cockerell was born in 1844 and was the son of Charles Robert Cockerell, the architect. He painted historical scenes, portraits, mythological and genre pictures which he exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1875-1903. He was also a decorative artist and sculptor. Samuel Pepys Cockerell (1844-1921) was the youngest son of the architect Charles Robert Cockerell RA (1788-1863). After studying at Christ Church, Oxford, Cockerell entered the Royal Academy Schools and exhibited at the Royal Academy on twenty-three occasions between 1875 and 1903. He described himself as an "Artist, Painter & Sculptor". He was a close friend of Frederic, Lord Leighton P.R.A. Various sizes. Condition is good. Light folding crease. Ref19209.
