Dust jacket rubbed with some soiling; color fading along flap folds; nicks at edges; light creasing at top of front panel; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Dust jacket's front and rear panels feature b/w images by Robert Mapplethorpe who was the partner of art curator and collector Sam Wagstaff (a third Mapplethorpe image is on page 84). Beige cloth mildly soiled; top corner of front board bumped. A few foxing spots and light soiling to edges; light moisture staining to top edge with faint stains at shallowly affecting interior leaves at their top margins; a few foxing spots on initial pages with a few minor occurrences to margins of other interior pages. Binding is firm. A very good- copy in a very good- dust jacket. Laid-in between pages 60-61 is a b/w portrait photographic print of an attractive brunette woman; image is uncredited and, despite an indeterminate relationship to the book, left in as a lagniappe.
