Contact seller5-star seller72 pages plus covers. Paperback: H 30.25cm x L 22.75cm. Gray paper covers soiled with mild staining, small chip at spine heel, slight curling and/or wear at fore-edge corners. Some foxing and staining to edges. Strong foxing to page 1; moderate foxing to page 72; minimal to occasional light foxing to other interior pages with a…few spots of soiling and several scattered patches of peeling where leaves were once adhered and pulled apart. Binding is firm. A good+ copy of a scarce trade catalog. Initial eight pages feature images of the Ames factory and product/component manufacture. "Ames Grade" buggies on pages 9-26 (seventeen models); "Owensboro Grade" models on pages 27-56 (twenty-nine models); "The Niagara Line" models on pages 57-71 (thirteen models plus concluding No. 2 Cart model). One model shown per page with all illustrated in b/w with exception of Model No. 200 (page 58) which is shown with red wheels. Although the publication is undated, the title page states that the company is in its thirty-third year as a builder of pleasure vehicles. As F.A. Ames Company was started in 1891 as the Carriage Woodstock Company, the catalogue was probably issued in 1924. This is further supported by online research which indicates that R.S. Triplett was brought into the firm in 1917 upon his marriage to Frederic A. Ames's daughter. Ames suffered a nervous breakdown in 1922 and died in 1925 so thus, with Triplett being listed as the company's Vice-President and Treasurer, the catalog would most certainly date from the later part of that eight-year period, circa 1922-1925. Also please note that the catalog only features the company's buggy models and does not reference any of their aftermarket bodies for Fords or their car models.

Contact seller5-star seller78 pages plus covers. Paperback: H 31cm x L 23cm. Tan paper covers soiled with strong staining, 18.5cm slender paper loss along spine, some slender loss along both covers' fore-edges as well. Interior pages are overall quite clean with just a few scattered foxing spots. Binding is firm. A good copy of a scarce trade catalog. Ini…tial six pages feature images of the Ames factory and product/component manufacture. "Ames Grade" buggies on pages 7-24 (seventeen models); "Owensboro Grade" models on pages 25-50 (twenty-five models); "The Niagara Line" models on pages 51-64 (twelve models plus concluding No. 2 Cart model); "Delivery Wagons" on pages 65-77 (twelve models). One model shown per page with all illustrated in b/w. Although the catalog is undated, the title page states that the company is in its thirty-fifth year as a builder of pleasure vehicles which, as the F.A. Ames Company was started in 1891 as the Carriage Woodstock Company, would seem to indicate a 1926 publication date. However, Ames suffered a nervous breakdown in 1922 and died in 1925. Since the title page specifies that Ames is still company president with no specific indication of his passing, the catalog was probably issued in 1925 perhaps in advance of the 1926 model year. Ames's son-on-law, R.S. Triplett (listed as the company's Vice-President and Treasurer upon the title page) assumed the company's presidency after Ames's death so again 1925 seems to be a fairly certain publication year. Also please note that the catalog only features the company's buggy and wagon models and does not reference any of their aftermarket bodies for Fords or their car models.

First edition of this extraordinary dealership showroom album for the iconic 1929 Lincoln L Motor Cars, considered to be one of the most elegant of the automobiles of the 1920's. The Lincoln Motor marque was the flagship badge of the Ford Motor Car Co., and largely overseen by Edsel Ford, whose talent for design, replaced the original Leland models with modern & elegant coach builder designs, featuring dark glass version interiors, twin windshield wipers, laminated windshields, a 384.8 cubic-inch engine, rubber engine mounts, and four wheel braking. The 1929 Lincoln featured 24 different catalogued bodies, with twelve from Lincoln including those such as deluxe Sport touring models to closed sedans, as well as specialized models from such custom coachbuilders as Dietrich, Judkins, LeBarton, Locke, Brunn, Willoughby, and Waterhouse. The models depicted in these photos include the Sport Touring Type 177, Sport Phaeton Type 176B, Club Roadster Type 165, the 5-Passenger Coupe Type 170, Judkins Berline Three Window Type 1720, All Weather Brougham by Brunn, All Weather Cabriolet by LeBaron, and the stunning Convertible Coupe by Dietrich Type 181 parked in front of a stately Southern California Spanish-style home. Very subtle changes were introduced between years until the 1930 model year, and in 1931, Ford Model K with a refined V8 and 120 horsepower replaced the Model L. No copies in Worldcat; See: Frank Rose, Lincoln Model L Production Information 1921-1939, Lincoln Owners Club (2012).

An exceedingly scarce photographic sample album for the groundbreaking and innovative Progressive Welder Sales Co. during World War II. The company was founded in 1935 by Johnson (b. 1896), noted Chrysler engineer and trouble-shooter who invented the first multiple-point spot welders for use in auto production, who quickly began developing and creating resistance welder machines which redefined fabrication techniques to meet wartime production demands. These extraordinary photographs show the jigs and machinists creating the necessary welding equipment in constructing tanks, tank gun turrets, extra belly tanks for aircraft, and the necessary machined parts. Also shown are the checking fixtures designed and built for the various manufacturers producing the Fairchild C-82 Packet, a twin-engine, twin-boom cargo aircraft used by the USAAF during World War II, which was also designed as cargo carrier, troop transport, dropping parachute troops, and glider towing. Also shown are mount welding fixtures for the Glenn L. Martin version of the B-29 Superfortress, jigs and equipment to properly and quickly manufacture B-29 wings, B-24 Liberator Wings, drilling gauges for Curtiss fighter planes, along with the many fabricated fixtures and welding equipment designed for Chevrolet's St. Louis plant producing DUKW Amphibious transports (Duck's) used heavily on the D-Day beaches of Normandy, and in the Pacific theatre on Saipan and Guam. Fred Johnson and his company invented scissors-type welding guns, rotisserie jigs for turning pieces under manufacture, and his multi-spot welder machines were combination hybrid presses and fixtures which sped up aircraft production in World War II by unparalleled amounts. Progressive Welder Sales Co. was very active during World War II often producing these massive thick sales albums featuring their latest innovations on resistance welding technology, all of the factory fixtures they were producing, and how they could speed up production, but we can find no institutional listings of other survivors. In 1950, Progressive Welder Sales Co. was converted over into the innovative and groundbreaking Creative Industries of Detroit, which launched itself into national consciousness by building President Truman's Lincoln Cosmo, and would go onto build the concept cars such as the FX-Atmos, Mercury XM-800, Dodge Granada, Packard Balboa, Ford Mystere, Corvette Corvair, Dodge Charger 500 and the Plymouth Superbird.
