Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. [Interesting provenance, previously owned by Gwendolyn Cafritz.] Bound in publisher's cloth. Hardcover. No dust jacket. Good binding and cover. Shelf wear. Some discoloration to boards. Contemporary signature of Cafritz on title page. Gwendolyn Cafritz was a leading Washington hostess. The widow of Morris Cafritz, a wealthy real estate entrepreneur, Mrs. Cafritz glittered on the capital's social scene in the 1950's and 1960's. As president of the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, she oversaw annual contributions of about $6 million to local community and arts organizations. Mrs. Cafritz combined wealth, effervescence and numerous contacts in business and government into a potent concoction of lavish entertainments that, in Washington, are as much a part of political life as sessions of Congress.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. First edition hard cover, with clipped dust jacket, both in good condition. Jacket design by Osbert Lancaster. General shelf and handling wear, including tanning, creasing and wear to dust jacket, which also has nicks and chips present some of which have been taped on the inside. The protective sheen of the dust jacket has worn away at edges, splitting on fold points, resulting in marked discolouration to these edges. Front and spine are illustrated by Lancaster; their colours remain bright. Board edges and spine point show spots of colour loss, wear to board edges, minor creasing to spine head and foot. Endpapers are lightly marked at head, (minor colour transference from boards), and pageblock is tanned, this leading into page edges. However, within, pages are tightly bound, and content unmarked. CN. Lancaster, Osbert (illustrator).
