JOHN RUSSELL is former chief art critic of The New York Times and the author of many books, including Abrams' Matisse: Father & Son, London, and Paris. He lives in New York. On 20 October 1773, He Was Promoted To Lieutenant In The 5Th Foot. He Returned To England To Join His Regiment, And Sailed For America On 7 May 1774.
