152pp, two volumes in one, text in traditional Chinese characters, 20.3 x 14cm, paperback. Contents browned, endpapers, edges and wrappers foxed, edges of first leaves creased, spine faded, a sound copy. The History of the Ming Palace was written by Liu Ruoyu, a eunuch who wrote insider accounts of late Ming court officialdom, ceremonies and customs, as well as of his personal experiences, struggles for favour, scandals, corruption, and the tyranny of the powerful eunuch Wei Zhongxian. This work by Liu Ruoqi is a rare historical source by a eunuch, originally written anonymously. Leisure Notes from the Golden Turtle was written by Gao Shiqi, a Qing Dynasty scholar official, and focused on Qing-era palace daily life, architecture, rituals, history and personal observations. It was written near Zhongnanhai?s Golden Turtle Isle, hence the title. Later publishers brought the two books together into a single volume because of their complementary themes.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Unused ex-library copy. 350 pages : 24 cm. The Chinese Perspectives on Human Rights and Good Governance series reviews various aspects of human rights and good governance in China, including international human rights standards, specific substantive rights protection and rule of law, as well as constitutionalism, especially in the context of contemporary China. Its aim is to stimulate discussion on these and related topics, with a focus on international standards whenever these are applicable and relevant to China. In this first volume in the series, the contributors adopt different disciplinary approaches to look at China both in the context of its internal constraints and as a global player in the overall development of human rights. Where is China headed in the near future? Does Chinese culture stand in contradiction to human rights? Is the rule of law alien to Chinese society? Can China move ahead without political reforms? In this thought-provoking volume, leading Chinese and Western scholars offer analysis of these issues, also with reference to Chinese history and contemporary culture.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -This book deals with the Problem of Distinction, i.e. what explains the distinction of two substances, especially when they are qualitatively indiscernible It argues that the best solution to this problem is an ontology of haecceities, properties like ¿being identical with X¿ which is unique for X and responsible for its individuation. After a detailed examination of various metaphysical positions including the bundle theory and the bare particularism, the author develops a novel ontology of haecceities. A Haecceity Mereology with three rules is proposed. According to this ontology, the reality is constituted by two fundamental kinds of properties, universals and haecceities. An individual substance is a special mereological sum of a haecceity and its correspondent universals.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 308 pp. Englisch.
