The drama… features a range of characters such as Satan, The Christ, Mary Magdalene, Rasputin, Familiars, Devils, Soldiers, Lust, Famine and Spirits of President Wilson of America and Lloyd George. This copy belonged to Mabel Henriette Spielmann, a biographer of Charlotte Brontë, and writer of books for children and art history. Marion H. Spielman was her husband, known as 'one of the most powerful figures in the late Victorian art world'. (Codell, 1989) Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1935. First edition. Hardcover. 121pp. Inscribed by the author and presented to Marion H. Spielmann for his wife Mabel Henriette Spielmann, with her bookplate depicting three women under a tree, one with a harp, another with a lute whilst the third recites verse, a cherub sitting at their feet.
