Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Condition: Good+. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page. Red cloth boards show light handling wear, although there is edge and corner bumps/chips. The internal binding is overall good, although hinges are a bit noisy. Part of the reason for the low condition grade is that at pages 76-79 there is a indentation of a paperclip with some faint rust marks. Pages 77 also has a small chip and tear at the very top. There is also a second paperclip indentation, although fainter, which includes pages 28-37. Apparently the authors inscription on the front were friends as pages 29 and 37 have "Read at Rosy's funeral" written on the page in ink. There is also a note written on the front pastedown that said Bert Rowswell died Feb 6, 1955 Sunday. It is unknown if this was the actual book that was used to read at his funeral, but the paperclips marking the pages certainly lean towards that theory. The main reason for the low condition grade is because of the damage caused by the paperclips used to mark the pages. Signed by Author(s).…

Contact seller5-star sellerSoft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Rosey Rowswell became the Pittsburgh Pirates' first radio broadcasters in 1936. He continued in that position until his death in 1955. Considered by many to be the best of a long line of great Pirate broadcasters, Rosey became famous for his home run call- he would blow on his slide whistle and yell "Open the window Aunt Minnie here comes the ball." He wrote four books on the Pirates, baseball and humor for Fort Pitt Brewing company-this one is by far the most difficult one to find. This is the first time in my 40 years of collecting and selling baseball books that I have seen this title. Has a yellow cover with a great illustration of Aunt Minnie who was too late, as her window is broken. In good condition. I have hundreds of publications on sports humor, cartoons and comics as well as books by and about broadcasters in stock. Discounts are available when you purchase multiple items on the same order.…
