'Who the author was is doubtful; but the writer [Henry Sotheran] has heard his father say that he was one Benjamin Rotch, a Middlesex Magistrate' (from the preface). No. 250 of 250 numbered copies, signed by H.C.Millard, Secy. Front cover stained and soiled, lesser discoloration to back cover, spine toned. Otherwise very good with text block clean and tight. With the bookplate on front pastedown of J.B. Findlay [1904-1973], a noted historian and collector of magic. Findlay had over 6,000 books and pamphlets in his collection and was editor of the Scottish Conjurers Association official magazine, The Thistle.
