Coperta in mezza pelle, piatti in cartonato marmorizzato, al dorso tassello recante titolo e autore impressi in oro. Tagli in rosso. Discreto stato di conservazione: imbrunimento delle carte; sporadiche tracce di foxing; lieve mancanza al margine inferiore del ritratto dell'autore. Seconda edizione di quest'opera dedicata alle origini e alla storia più antica della città di Brescia, di rilievo per le informazioni fornite sui reperti archeologici, sugli sviluppi della vita civile ed ecclesiastica, nonché sulle testimonianze artistiche e architettoniche del contesto urbano. Comprende le incisioni realizzate da Elisabetta Piccini (Venezia, 1644-1734), conosciuta in ambito religioso come suor Isabella. Formata nella bottega paterna di Giacomo Piccini, si distinse per la produzione di antiporte, frontespizi e composizioni di soggetto sacro e allegorico, caratterizzate da grande eleganza formale. Come ricordato da Piantanida (n. 720), si tratta di una "seconda edizione di particolare pregio", ritenuta fondamentale per gli studi di storia e archeologia bresciana, anche in virtù dell'ampia presenza di riproduzioni di statue, monumenti, emblemi, simboli, monete e iscrizioni lapidarie.
