Millais, seven of which are plates. Collated complete.A leaf containing publisher's original advertisements at the end of the book.Allingham, a lyrical poet of the Victorian era, compiles poems that he had written since 1850, including the Day and Night Songs written in 1854, as well as the titular Music Master, first published in this volume. Allingham was a great influence on W.B. Yeats and published an array of poetry acclaimed for its graceful imagery. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, smart, with the rare small mark. Rubbing to the joints and bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Slight fading to the spine. End papers are generally bright and clean, with the minimal mark. Previous owner's bookplate to the front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound, with slight signs of wear to hinges between leaves p.64 and plate, pp.128-129 and 208-209.
