FIRST EDITION hardcover, stated "First Published, February, 1930," sewn-bound in green cloth with gilt lettering on front cover, and darkened gilt lettering (appearing dark gray) on spine, is in G condition, having much fading to cloth of spine, with fading to edges of both covers; light bumping and wear to corners; some crimping to top and bottom spine; former owner has written what look like dates "1137-1193" (which are the life dates of Saladin) in pencil on first free endpaper; former owner has written his name, also "Hollywood Calif" and a date "March 15, 1930" in green fountain-ink on reverse of half-title page; book was published with uncut pages (creating a deckled edge) and some pages may not be fully cut by former owner; normal age-toning to pages. Book is illustrated with plates showing engravings, and there is one plate map of "The Holy Land in the Twelfth Century"; also the endpapers show a map of Saladin's empire in 1190. A history of the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty Saladin. History. 12th century. Biography. DB.
