Deutscher Maler, Grafiker und Kunstwissenschaftler. Studierte in Weimar unter anderem bei Walther Klemm. Ab 1950 Dozent zunächst an der Fachschule für angewandte Kunst in Erfurt, die 1955 in die Pädagogische Hochschule integriert wurde. Außerdem Autor mehrerer Werke zur Kunstgeschichte des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts. 1959 Einzelausstellung seiner Aquarelle, Ölbilder und Zeichnungen im Erfurter Angermuseum. Ab 1963 Direktor des Angermuseums. Rechts unten in Bleistift signiert und datiert: Römpler 57. Wasserzeichen der Hahnemühle.
