L'opera, intitolata all'Optimus Potor, è un'erudita carrellata di notizie e aneddoti sul vino, le sue varietà e tradizioni, gli abbinamenti, i cocktail, i liquori. Con bibliografia e «indice dei nomi dei Vini delle Aquaviti dei Liquori delle Bevande esotiche delle Misture o Cocktails dei Pick-ups o Tirasù degli Dei dei Poeti e dei Bevitori notabili». Sovraccoperta molto danneggiata, con strappi e mancanze, come spesso per i libri Longanesi di questi anni; internamente in buono stato.
