First edition.A scarce copy of this charming autobiography on working at the BBC, as told through the reminiscences of Roger Eckersley, who secured his position there through his younger brother Peter, a chief engineer. Roger rose quickly through the ranks, starting as Assistant Controller (Programmes) and eventually was appointed Director of Entertainment in 1933.Complete with the very scarce original unclipped dust wrapper.For the BBC's 90th anniversary, extracts of this book were abridged by Neil Cargill and read by James Fleet, including descriptions of the rapid expansion of the BBC, a tour of Broadcasting House and on audience research.Undated, dated from various copies held institutionally.
