The niche-construction approach has been productive in many other studies, such as those that describe culturally driven change at the ecosystem level: for example, the extinction of megafauna after the arrival of humans, the change of broad-scale landscapes as a result of cultivation in early and recent times, and the traditional use of fire as a means to manipulate the environmental dynamics in a way beneficial for humans.
