Paperback. ix, 169p. paperback, very good. A collection of letters, poems, and other writings reflecting the experiences of Magdalena Robitscher-Hahn, a Jewish refugee from Czechoslovakia who fled the Nazis to Bolivia, eventually finding medical work in China. After terrible experiences in KMT-controlled areas, she was impressed by the situation in the Communist base area of Yanan. Recalled from China, she had to return to Europe where as a German-speaking Jew she had difficulty obtaining citizenship in the country of her birth.
