Condition: NEAR FINE. First printing. Novel set in 1905 - John Merrill, a painter living in Paris, returns to America and heads to a town in the South in search of his brother who apparently eloped with a young woman 5 years earlier and then disappeared, leaving her alone and ill in St Louis. The author's first and apparently only novel. 247 pp. Near fine in a very good dust jacket. (some age-toning to the dj, and very minor edgewear).
