Softcover. Stapled, pictorial wraps (image of Robison) with a taped spine edge and much edge, corner and surface wear. Name and number sticker in top right corner. Music store stamp, bottom left. Some songs in the Table of Contents have notations and there are pencilled in chord markings in a few of the songs. This book was obviously used by a player or performer. Overall G-. This is an excellent collection of early country folk ballads, sung by Carson Robison. The songs include: Hallelujah I'm a Bum, Birmingham Jail, Golden Slippers, Hand Me Down My Walking Cane, The Hell Bound Train, The Death of John Henry, Barbara Allen and many others. Carson Jay Robison (August 4, 1890 - March 24, 1957) was an American country music singer and songwriter. He originally worked and sang with Vernon Dalhart though the two eventually went their separate ways. Robison is in The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Although his impact is generally overlooked today, he played a major role in promoting country music in its early years through numerous recordings and radio appearances. Sheet Music. Condition: Good. This sheet music has been neatly stapled together. It has some general aging along with wear on the edges and corners including some short closed tear. It is of some interest because of the photograph of Carson J. Robison and Vernon Dalhart. Neither of these two men, one a songwriter/singer and the other primarily a singer, was, strictly speaking, from the country, they were as a team and individually two of the pioneers of country music. Dalhart was one of the most prolific country singers, remembered for "The Wreck of the Old 97" and "The Prisoner's Song." Robison is remembered for "Life Gets Tee-Jus Don't It" and for many Western songs. The picture on this sheet music shows them when they worked together. The year after this music was published the two went separate ways. In overall near fine used condition with only very slight signs of age, handling and storage. Internally clean and appears little read, no annotations or inscriptions; text and music bright and clear throughout. Arranged for voice and piano with lyrics, chords and tonic sol-fa notation. Horizontal crease along the center from being folded, minor edgewear, corners bumped, exterior rubbed, still a complete and very good copy. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "Cannibal Isle 4." Features short samples of three other songs. A rather strange song that makes one wonder if the authors knew the meaning of "cannibal" as there is no reference of people being eaten in the lyrics and the narrator appears to enjoy being there, "Down on Cannibal Isle I'd like to linger awhile." *OCLC* locates two holdings.…
