He lived for many years in Venezuela, where he developed the biogeographical and evolutionary theory known as Panbiogeography. Croizat's first work on Panbiogeography was published in 1958. It was titled: "Panbiogeography : or, An Introductory Synthesis of Zoogeography, Phytogeography, and Geology, with notes on evolution, systematics, ecology, anthropology, etc".
