Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Early printing. This book is in Very Good condition and is lacking the dust jacket. Early printing - no statement of printing on the copyright page, but the code B-S shows a February 1918 publication date. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. There are several small… edge tears to the spine ends and some light bumping and rubbing to the corners. The covers have some beginning spots of ground-in dirt. The text pages are mostly clean and bright. This copy has been removed from the library of the Bohemian Club - it bears the bookplate of the Bohemian Club with a removed from Collection stamp on it. The front inner hinge is slightly loose. "Although Lieutenant Robert's modest preface makes little reference to the exploits which he has lived through, the readers of the extraordinary story which follows may care to know a few personal facts at the outset. It was in 1914 that this adventurous young American enlisted, and it was early in 1915 that he reached the Western Front.".
