Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Narrow quarto, 95 pages, illustrated and printed in red and blue. Half cloth and printed paper over boards. In original cardboard slipcase. - First edition. One of 1000 copies. Text in French. 'Françoise Choay invites us to consider space doubly: both as instrumental ? and as a medium ?. According to her, the 'espace-milieu' refers to three structures (including borders overlap): 1) ethological space by analogy with the space explored by ethologists in animals; 2) analytical space by analogy with the unconscious explored by Freud; and 3) anthropological space, i.e. the cultural space carried by tradition and collective memory. "No longer located outside of history, like the ethological and analytical spaces, but engaged in a heavy history, it explains the extraordinary persistence of certain fixed arrangements: not only that of the Bororo village, but those of European villages in the original relationship which links them to their fields, or that which, in the cities of the Mediterranean, generates enclosed courtyards and patios. " (Olivier Mongin: À propos de Françoise Choay et Jean-Toussaint Desanti, 2008.
