Softcover. Condition: Fair. Original brown paper cover with cloth tape spine, stapled. Lightly illustrated on cover and inside, with diagrams and illustrations of tools. Spine is frayed all along edges, but stapling holds well. Paper is greatly tanned and reproduction of type and illustrations is somewhat light. This is one of s…everal publications intended for youth workers the National Youth Administration in Kentucky. The National Youth Administration was a New Deal agency sponsored by Franklin D. Roosevelt during his presidency. It focused on providing work and vocational education for Americans between the ages of 16 and 25. It operated from June 26, 1935, to 1939 as part of the Works Progress Administration. The NYA constructed schools and libraries, courthouses, offices, and administration buildings. In addition to buildings, NYA workers also built athletic fields, baseball fields, handball and tennis courts, and assembled street signs. The NYA also trained youth in various workshop skills, building and repairing furniture, toys, playground equipment, mechanical equipment, concrete blocks, and more. Paperback, acceptable condition. 67 single-sided pages, letter-sized paper, quarto.
