From writer John Cunliffe's library, bound in green cloth publisher's binding with bevelled edges, black border and sunken oval containing a colour illustration of flowers. In good condition with faded gilt illustrations and labels to front board and spine. Bumping to top and tail of spine and edges. Split to gutter between upper pastedown and upper flyleaf. Gilt edges. Brown coated end papers. Decorative page borders. Browning to end papers. Black and white engraving on steel frontispiece as well as several other illustrations located throughout. Cunliffe (1933-2018) is best remembered as the creator of Postman Pat. His signature, dated to 1952, can be found on the back of the frontispiece.
