Condition: Very good. - Over 15 words penned on 4-7/8 inch high by 4-1/4 inch wide creamy white paper. Addressed "Dear Madam", Bishop Bickersteth expresses his "pleasure in complying" with the recipient's "request". Signed "R. Ripon". The corners are clipped. Once folded for mailing, the note is mounted with glue from the verso onto stiffer stock. Very good. The Anglican Bishop of Ripon, Robert Bickersteth (1816-1884) was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge. He served as Rector of St. John's, Clapham and the St. Giles in the Fields. He was a Canon at Salisbury Cathedral from 1854 to 1857 before being appointed Bishop of Ripon.
