    Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st. D.j., 175 pp., maps, notes, index. Williams enlisted in the 4oth Alabama Inf. Regiment in 1862. In 1864 he participated in the Arlanta campaign as a member of a Pioneer (Engineer) unit. He was captured near the end of the war and spent 3 months in a prison camp. His diary reflects his intense anti-war and anti-military feelings.
