COLLECTORS' CHOICE. 1973, Samarkand Gallery, 29 p., 47 illus., 46 in color., 23 x 20 cm. This was a show at the Samarkand Gallery for a week in March in 1973, of 46 rugs owned by California collectors. To some extent the rugs were to reflect what was avaible and being purchased by collectors. The show has multiple rugs from Christopher Alexander, W. Robert Roalfe, and Mr & Mrs. Thomas Ford, and smaller numbers from Cathryn Marcho, Mrs. B. Buchram, C. C. Frederick, Philip Baity, Mary Louise Stauffer, Ms. M. Sanborn, Robert White, Sharon Greene, Kay Allen, and R. Bryan Steele. Colors are good. Most of the rugs are 19th century and village or nomad production. There were 9 Turkish, 14 Caucasian, 6 Persian, 10 Turkmen, 2 East Turkestan, 2 Chinese, 2 Baluch, and a Balkan kilim. Technical descriptions. Book.…
