    Condition: Fair. 1884. No Edition Remarks. 211 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Thumb-marking present. Noticeable creasing to gutter. Cracking to gutters, with exposed binding threads. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Visible crushing to spine ends. Noticeable tanning to spine and edges. Dents to edges. Minor marks to boards.

    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Black leather boards rubbed to extremities, printed on the front in gilt 'In Memoriam, Wth Initials in gilt to the lower edge A. R B (Alice R Burns) . All edge gilt, brown endpapers, dedication in neat handwriting to reverse side of the front endpaper, 'Anthea Guthrie, With love from her affectionate Grandmother Anne J Guthrie, July 1915.' Tissue protected photographic portrait of Alice R Burns (the name could be Annie R Burns) , 67 pages, pages 5-40 are he Sermon, 41-67 are letters of sympathy addressed to Dr Burns and his daughters. Mrs Burns was the wife of Dr Burns and she appears to be highly thought of in her community. The origins of this book marking the death of this lady are not easy to trace. Plainly scarce but would be of great interest to the those with assocations to Kirkliston or family connections with Dr or Mrs Burns. A social record of preaching for such an occasion and a record of how such Memoriums were presented. Condition clean and tight, very good. Size7.5 x 5.75 inches approx.
