    Condition: Fair. 1873. No Edition Remarks. 702 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth boards with gilt lettering. Contains black and white illustrations. Prize plate stuck to front pastedown. Volume III. Clean pages and illustrations with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Hinges are moderately cracked with exposed netting. Pen inscription and shop label to back free endpaper and pastedown. Textblock edges dyed gilt. Binding remains firm. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Heavy splits and loss to spine and corners. Visible wear marks to boards.

Black leather with decorative gilt, gilt closed edges. Hinges weak and cracked, leather scuffed to edges and is starting to disintegrate at edges. Appears to be some minor biological damage to the bookmarking ribbons as small holes to ends, the odd spot of foxing throughout, else internally very good, pp clean and tidy, plates big and bright. Beautifully Illustrated Bible, Containing the Old and the New Testaments and having 37 Illustrated Plates ( 3 of them Coloured Maps). The Commentary on The Old Testament is by Rev. Robert Jamieson. A Second Illustrated Title Page before the "Poetical Books, starting with the Book of Job, is Illustrated with Our Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane. Commentary by Rev. Jamieson and Rev. E. H. Bickersteth. Frontispiece opposite has a lovely Illustration of the Madonna and Child. Small closed tear in lower margin. The New Testament begins with a Printed Title Page stating that the Commentary is by Rev. Edward Henry Bickersteth. Frontispiece Illustrated with The Three Magi following the Star. Text is arranged in Double Columns with References in narrow inner margins. Copious Footnotes. 14 3/4" Tall. Text ends at Revelation XXI. Pages a little age darkened. A little light foxing on plates, mainly marginal. Some edge wear and rubbing to leather (see photos). Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.

Two volumes with engraved plates throughout, the names of members of the Willis family are mentioned in the Births, Deaths and Marriages section of Vol I. Worn, marked and scratched to both volumes, small crack starting to the base of the front of Vol I, the hinges to both volumes are sound, the gutter is strained to the beginning and end of Vol II. Pagination Vol I viii, 730pp, with 10 engraved plates, engraved title and frontispiece; Vol II 460pp; iv, 424pp with 27 engraved plates, engraved title and frontispiece.
