Ein vormals reicher, dann verarmter Liebhaber, ein gewisser Karl Hesse, brachte sie um, als sie sich von ihm abwandte und in einen spanischen Sänger verliebte. Er lauerte ihr vor ihrer Wohnung auf und erschoss zuerst sie, dann sich selbst. Der Nebenbuhler, der spanische Tenor Juan Raventos, den er auch umbringen wollte, überlebte nur, weil er zufällig gerade im Krankenhaus lag.
