zkm karlsruhe. 192 Seiten mit 162 Abb. Zustand: Sehr gut, neuwertig. - Fotogramme entstehen ohne Kamera / Photograms produced without a camera. - Leibniz' Lager is a game of ideas in which it is imagined that Leibniz did in fact realize his life-long dream of establishing a "Theater of Nature and Art," as he called it, and had begun to collect natura) objects and artifacts that would serve to convey visual knowledge about all aspects of nature and civilization. This collection of objects, archived in a storehouse, would then have been augmented right up until the present day. The anal arrangement of the objects in the store-house certainly conformed to the traditional canon of Nature Ancient Greek and Roman Sculpture Art Machines, but this might not always have been observed as years went by and some items of the collection may simply have been deposited anywhere or in some other asso-ciative arrangement or context, often resulting in many a curious combination. This book takes the reader an a tour of this fictitious storehouse, the contents of which are visualized in the form of photograms created by Renate Heyne and Floris Neusüss in numerous museums and other situations since the year 2000. Hardcover. Red fabric casebound book. There is a dust jacket with white and red text down a black spine. Pages: (5), 6-311, (1). Pofusely illustrated with a majoity black-and-white images. "László Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) was one of the most internationally influential teachers at the Bauhaus. It is essentially owing to his effective artistic and journalistic skills that photography became an integral part of modern art in the twenties. He "discovered" the aesthetic possibilities of photograms in 1922 and continued his inventive work with them until 1943, turning them into icons of the medium that are still waiting to be fully brought to light. This catalogue raisonné, meticulously edited by photography expert Renate Heyne, is the first to feature all of the known works--close to 450 of them--in chronological order. Until now, most of them had only been published in history books and auction catalogues. This volume contains far more information than is usually found in a classic descriptive catalogue of works: it explains the artistic, technical, and biographical circumstances under which the photograms were created, examines them in relation to other areas of Moholy-Nagy's work, and analyzes them at length on the basis of selected pieces. A biography and a bibliography of the photograms round off this catalogue raisonné." Contents are as follows: Foreword / Hattula Moholy-Nagy -- Introduction / Floris M. Neusüss -- Light years of a life : the photogram in the aesthetic of László Moholy-Nagy / Herbert Molderings -- Light displays : relations so far unknown / Renate Heyne -- Remarks on the catalogue raisonné -- The Berlin photograms, 1922-1923. An early photogram and its "revaluation" ; Broom ; Flower photograms -- The Weimar photograms, 1923-1925. Malerei photographie film ; "Revaluations" -- The Dessau photograms, 1925-1928. Commercial photograms for Goerz ; A self-portrait photogram ; Title page of Qualität ; The light space modulator -- The Berlin photograms, 1928-1935. Photogram enlargements for exhibitions ; Photogram editions -- The London photograms, 1935-1937 -- The Chicago photograms, 1937-1943. How to make a photogram ; Molding the plastics ; Curriculum vitae of László Moholy-Nagy. VG/VG: Stamp on front free end page. Sticker and due date card on back free end page. Condition: Neu. Eine Sammlungswelt in Fotogrammen/Leibniz' Storehouse. Photograms of a Collected World. Deutsch/Englisch. Hrsg. von/Edited by Peter Weibel. Hardcover. Condition: As New. Laszlo Moholy-Nagy was one of the Bauhaus' most influential teachers; his photographic skills, as well as his writing on the subject, helped to secure the medium's integral place in modern art. One of Moholy-Nagy's most notable contributions was his extensive exploration--from 1922 through 1943--of the aesthetic possibilities of the photogram (he coined the term). These ghostly traces of objects placed on photographic paper during exposure are part of a prolific legacy that included painting, sculpture and stage design. Moholy-Nagy's photograms have become emblematic of the medium, though they have yet to be fully critically explored. This well-illustrated catalogue raisonne is the first to feature all of his known photograms--nearly 450--in chronological order. This exhaustive volume examines the artistic, technical and biographical circumstances under which the works were created, places them in relation to other parts of Moholy-Nagy's practice and analyzes selected pieces at length.Laszlo Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) taught at the Bauhaus for five years, founding The School of Design in Chicago, which became the Illinois Institute of Technology, in 1939.…
