(?) main interior in very good clean crisp condition for the age with a f/p and numerous period style black and white illustrations throughout by various humorous artists, no usage marks or inscriptions but with age foxing…to e/papers, top page block gilt and in very good bright condition, boards are of good clean appearance for the age with only very light usage, bright gilt decoration to front corner and also bright lettering to spine area, all tight. Morris was a young Liberian who converted to Christianity and traveled to the United States to attend college. Reprinted many times, 1908 through the 1920s, this edition doesn't seem to conform to any of those described on OCLC (all of which seem to be relati…vely scarce); the work was also reprinted in 1954 and more recently. No edition in Work or Blockson catalogue. Poor quality paper browned and brittle; still a good copy. Illustrated white wrappers (somewhat soiled, edges a little chipped), stapled. (#6644).
