Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. Embark on a captivating journey through time with this exploration of sundials and their evocative mottoes. The author delves into the history and significance of these ancient timekeepers, revealing their role as silent witnesses to the passage of life. From sun-drenched gardens to weathered churchyards, sundials have served as poignant reminders of time's fleeting nature and the importance of living in the present. This book unveils a rich tapestry of sundial inscriptions, each bearing witness to the hopes, fears, and philosophies of generations past. Through these mottoes, we encounter a spectrum of human emotions, from the poignant "Remember thou must die" to the uplifting "I count the bright hours only." The author skillfully weaves together historical anecdotes, literary references, and philosophical insights, illuminating the profound wisdom embedded in these concise inscriptions. Ultimately, this book invites us to contemplate the ephemeral nature of time and to embrace the present moment. By rediscovering the forgotten voices of sundials, we gain a deeper appreciation for the beauty and brevity of life. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
