Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Gumleaf Whispers and Other Verses, Rasmus Peter Rasmussen [c. 1883 Denmark - ?] pub. Star Press 861 Hay Street, Perth, 1923. First and only edition. 12mo. 181 pp. Portrait of the author. This copy has been carefully restored at some point; the front cover of the original paper wrappers has been laid onto green boards, the spine and rear cover presumably lost. Some paper loss to the title page was repaired with tissue. The restoration is clearly professional. The small book is now housed within a specially made, but slightly crudely constructed box; however, some care has been taken over this small volume of poems by a native-born Danish immigrant to Australia who signed up for the Australian forces in WW1 and who wrote verse in his second language of some feeling for his fellow soldiers and working men in the country. A decent copy of this rare WW1 poetry title with its own history of care and sympathetic attention.
