Condition: Fine. Susanville, California. Lahontan Images. 2007. First Edition. Octavo (9 x 6). 159 pp. including bibliography, index. Signed by the author. Black and white photos, many are period photographs. A fascinating history of Big Meadows and the Progressive Era in California. After the meadows had been secured by stealth and deception - including possible criminal acts - during the period 1900 - 1914 by Great Western Power Company (nee Western Power Company) and a few of its cronies, a dam was constructed and the meadows flooded. The resulting reservoir, Lake Almanor, drew nary a protest from conservationists of the time. Also includes interesting essays on early pioneers and families of the area. The book is bound in black cloth with gilt titles. Pictorial dust jacket. Light rubbing to the front of the jacket (printing flaw), otherwise fine in a fine dust jacket. Signed by Author.
