B.A. Literature, M.A. Clinical Psychology at Bar Ilan. Dealt with psychoanalysis in an eclectic manner with a psychoanalytic basis. Psychologist at the evaluation center for senior officers in the IDF. In addition to psychology and poetry, works in the plastic arts, art and literature critic in Haaretz. Won several prizes including the Chomsky price for poetry in 1983, the prime minister's prize in1996, the Brenner prize in 1997, the Yehuda Amichai prize for poetry in 2005, the Bialik prize in literature in 2011 etc. Top left corner of title page has a very small rubber stamp impression in Hebrew of the former owner, Professor Michael (Milton) Arfa, (1920 New York City - 2003 New York City) the distinguished Rabbi, author and professor of Hebrew literature and philosophy. Dr. Arfa taught generations of students at Yeshiva University, Herzliah Hebrew Teachers Institute, Hunter College, HUC-JIR and NYU. As chairman of the Israel Matz Foundation, Dr. Arfa devoted himself to aiding indigent Hebrew writers, and published scholarly works of Hebrew literature and philosophy. He was a gifted teacher, humanitarian, scholar, lover of Zion and above all a modest and quiet doer of good deeds.
