Limited SIGNED edition. #19 of 217 copies. 36pp, (5.5 x 8.5 inches). Very Good conditon in light blue stapled wrappers (soft cover). Covers are sunned (faded), show the lightest of wear, just a little "handled" looking. No tears or creases anywhere, no bumps, no markings to text. Inside the front cover is printed in black ink "F…or David Banks, In Heaven Also." I can't tell whether this inscription is written by Propper since it is plain bold printing, not in cursive writing. On the first page which serves as the limitation page (or colophon), there is the numbering statement and Propper's signature in bold red ink (a marking pen). The whole booklet looks home-made, perhaps created at a copy service. The poems are in different typefaces and sizes. Not a stylistic device, but just the way they looked in his files I think. The limitation page states: "as originally conceived, my third book of poetry 'For Kerouac in Heaven' consisted of fifty poems plus the title poem. This book exists only in manuscript at present, and has to date been rejected by seven university presses. This present, abbreviated version of the book is a limited edition of 217 copies, all of them numbered and signed." The entire statement is in caps, NOT handwritten, but part of the book. Photos available. Signed by Author.

Contact seller5-star sellerFirst edition SIGNED. An excellent Beat historical piece by one of its proponents Dan Propper. Near fine stapled reaps with clean text. A warm homemade bread feeling to this book put together obviously by the poet to interest or intrigue some publisher which I think eventually happened in with Cherry Valley. This is his third bo…ok of poetry. This is issued in 217 copies all numbered and signed by Dan. This is number 86 on the opening colophon page, fully signed.

Contact seller5-star sellerSelf-wrappers, 16 pp., stapled binding. Very good copy, staples rusting. Propper's first book. Rare. The Fable of the Final Hour captures in a jazzy rhythm the apocalyptic, despairing mood of the first generation to grow up with the possibility of a nuclear Armageddon. Propper (1907-2003) considered himself a second-generation B…eat poet, inasmuch as he was influenced by Allen Ginsberg's Howl and by Kerouac, but he emerged only a short time after them. He rose in the jazz and poetry scene, held various jobs, and lived here and there before eventually settling down in upstate New York. There is a long hiatus between this booklet and his later publications.
