O'Connor Sloane, A.B., A.M., E.M., PhD. Includes A Guide to How and Where to Procure Ingredients. Illustrated Workshop and Laboratory Methods. Latin Names Translated into English. A Glossary of Common Names of Chemical Substances." 10,000 formulas for Home, Farm, and Workshop. The number of products created by modern Chemistry and Science necessary for successful everyday living had expanded almost beyond number during the early 20th century and continues yet today. The average person has not been given little opportunity to become familiar with the simplicity of producing these chemical processes and compounds because of the "Mystery-chamber" techniques used to describe them. In many chemical mixtures, all evidence of processing is concealed in the finished product, so you don't know how they did it. When describing common concoctions or processes with Latin and trademarked names, the mystery becomes more established. Trademark processes also mean additional cost to use. This book attempts to clear away these mysteries with knowledge. Illustrated with line drawings. xxxviii + pp9-883. Hardcover has red cloth boards, an embossed torch on front cover, black shadowboxes with gold lettering on spine, but no dust jacket. 1941 Christmas gift inscription on ffep. No other writing found in book. Pages have turned brown and are brittle with age. Both gutters have been repaired. Interior is now tight, clean, and text unmarked, a very usable book. 913pp. Copyrights 1939, 1937, 1934, 1933, 1931, 1927, 1924, 1916, 1914, 1913, 1912, & 1907. Printed in U.S.A. 12th Edition.
