Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Prieto, Gregorio (illustrator). First British Edition. Collection of 14 original animal stories set in Tras-os-Montes in northern Portugal, the author's homeland, translated into English (& with a wonderful Introduction) by Denis Brass. Early pseudonymous work by the "patriarch of Portuguese letters," Adolfo Correia da Rocha. Hardcover book in 93 pages & illustrations by Gregorio Prieto that "run parallel to, not merely embellish" the stories. A First Edition from Great Britain from 1950, this hardcover book is in Near Fine condition: soft gray cloth covered boards with delicate red design to front/lettering to spine is exceptionally clean, marred only by a few scattered foxed spots, primarily in front matter. The DJ is clipped at bottom front flap (where British price was) is nearly equally flawless: bright & colorful, no fading, but light soiling. Nicely protected in new mylar cover Free! Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
