Original dark blue covers with paper label on spine, slip bound in at front explaining increase in price to subscribers, errata slip bound in between dedication page and Preface (also loose errata slip). All seventeen plates (includes frontis and map) are present. Cloth is split over joints and rear cover is partially detached, spine cover has two horizontal tears and paper title-label is darkens, rubbed and torn, Corners and edges of covers are bumped. Internal binding is sound. Uncut (untrimmed) pages are clean, foxing to margins of plates.
