Originally published as a monthly serial from October 1867 to May 1868 in St Paul's Magazine, and in book form in 1869, this is the second of the "Palliser" series of novels, here reissued in a uniform format. This deals with "both British parliamentary politics of the 1860s, including voting reform (se…cret ballot and eliminating rotten boroughs and Irish tenant-right) and Finn's romances with women of fortune, which would secure his financial future." Preface by Sir Shane Leslie, illustrations by T. L. B. Huskinson . Notes and a "who's who." 367 pp. Fine in brown cloth in a very good dust jacket (chip to top edge, some other edgewear).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. This is "Phineas Finn" by Anthony Trollope. It is the Oxford University Press hardcover edition, issued in 1977, and is embellished with the line drawings of T. L. B. Huskinson. The book has an introduction by Shane Leslie. A small impression on the rear cover te…lls us that this is a book club edition. "Phineas Finn" is the second of Trollope's 'Palliser Novels', and is a thorough satirical send-up (but a joyously sympathetic one) of Parliamentary Politics and English societal culture that formed around Politics. Politics with a capital P were close to Trollope's heart, and in this novel he brings a clear view of Parliamentary shennanigans to the surface. The covers are a bit soiled and scuffed and the spine is slightly cocked. The paper is of cheaper quality - the book appears to have been privately printed; there's no publisher given. Off-white dust jacket with unidentified portrait on front cover and portrait of Maher on front flap with a review of the book. The dust jacket is a bit soiled and worn. ; First published in Autumn 1954, this reprint was done in Spring 1955. Slievenamon is the famous mountain in County Tipperary, rich in mythology, history and folklore. Charles Kickham romantized the mountain in song and in his book, "Knocknagow." The review on the dust jacket flap states that Kickham depicts the Knocknagow of fiction but Maher in his anthology depicts the Slievenamon of history. This is an anthology of Irish writers' views of the area's local history folklore, its place in national history and in Gaelic lore and in song ; Black and white photos ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; xvi, 301 p. pages.
